Introduction to SAMI: our automated performance optimization tool

SAMI (Smart Ads Management Interface) is an AdConversion’s internal optimization platform designed to streamline programmatic optimizations for our clients. It integrates with LinkedIn, Google, and YouTube, allowing performance marketers to set up automation rules to enhance ad performance.

SAMI is currently managed internally, meaning your performance marketer will set it up for you. The platform aims to expand its integrations to Meta and Twitter in the future.

Key Features of SAMI

1. Automation Rules: Create rules to automate performance optimizations.

• Example: Pause ads with a cost per demo greater than $300 and send an alert in Slack.

2. Ad Scheduling: Schedule ads to run or pause on specific days.

• Example: Run ads only Monday to Friday.

3. Performance Alerts: Set up alerts for specific performance metrics.

• Example: Alert for ad fatigue if the frequency is greater than 5 and click-through rate is less than 0.5.

4. Customizable Conditions: Apply conditions based on various metrics.

• Example: Pause ads that haven’t generated any demo requests and have spent more than $500.

Example of how to Create a Rule in SAMI

1. Navigate to the Rules Section

• Access the rules section within the SAMI platform.

2. Create a New Rule

• Click on ā€˜Create New Rule’.

• Name your rule (e.g., NonPerformer Rule).

3. Define Conditions

• Clear existing conditions and start from scratch.

• Choose the scope: Ad level, Campaign level, or Campaign group level.

• Select the frequency: How often you want this rule to run (e.g., every hour or once a day).

4. Set Specific Conditions

• Choose metrics: Select relevant metrics such as cost, demo requests, frequency, and click-through rate.

• Example condition:

• Cost > $500

• Demo requests < 1

5. Configure Actions

• Set actions: What SAMI should do when the conditions are met (e.g., pause the ad).

• Example action: Pause any underperforming ads that haven’t generated a demo request and have spent more than $500.

6. Set Up Alerts

• Configure Slack alerts: Choose the Slack channel where alerts will be sent.

• Customize the message: Include relevant information such as campaign name, creative ID, and account name.

7. Save and Activate the Rule

• Review the rule to ensure all conditions and actions are correctly set.

• Save and activate the rule.

Example Use Cases

1. Underperforming Ad Alerts:

• Condition: Cost > $500 and demo requests < 1.

• Action: Pause the ad and send a Slack alert.

2. Ad Fatigue Alerts:

• Condition: Frequency > 5 and click-through rate < 0.5.

• Action: Send a Slack alert indicating the need for a creative refresh.

Conclusion

SAMI is a powerful tool for automating ad optimizations and performance alerts. While it’s currently an internal tool managed by our performance marketers, it offers extensive capabilities to enhance ad performance through customizable rules and proactive alerts.
